Yury Semyonov has introduced YS – MY VoxBox, a free vocal mixing plugin for Windows. While not an exact emulation of a specific hardware unit, this plugin draws inspiration from classic gear and is designed to handle vocal mixing with a rich feature set. Built for detail-oriented producers and engineers, it includes essential tools like compression, EQ, saturation, and de-essing.
Powerful Tools for Free Vocal Mixing
YS – MY VoxBox combines multiple processing modules into one interface. It includes a five-step attack/release compressor, a harmonic saturation module, and a flexible de-esser that offers both wide and split-band modes. In limiter mode, the de-esser behaves like a classic LA-2A-style limiter, giving smooth dynamics control.
Feature-Rich Equalization and Analog Character
The plugin features a 3-band equalizer with fixed frequency points. Users can toggle between bell and shelf shapes for the high and low bands. Additional analog-style enhancements are included via entropy and flux controls. These functions introduce small frequency and loudness variations between channels to mimic analog console behavior.
