Tuğrul Akyüz has released TugImgSynth Dynamic Image Wavetable Synthesizer, a free VST3 plugin that transforms images into playable wavetables.
Users can generate unique and evolving sound textures for experimental music, sound design, and cinematic production by dragging and dropping any image onto the interface.
Turn Any Image into a Sound Source
Dynamic Image Wavetable Synthesizer offers two scanning modes:
- Horizontal Scan Mode: Converts each horizontal line into a wavetable, ideal for sharp-edged, glitchy textures.
- Circular Scan Mode: Reads pixels in a circular path, producing smooth, seamless waveforms.
These modes allow users to extract sonic material from abstract art, photos, or even random screenshots.
Real-Time Image Manipulation
Shape your wavetable using built-in affine transformations:
- Zoom, rotate, skew, and translate the image directly in the interface.
- Choose between Nearest Neighbor or Bilinear interpolation modes for different waveform fidelities.
Multi-Engine Synthesis
Alongside image-based wavetables, the plugin includes four additional oscillator types: Sine, Saw, Square, and Noise. These can be layered for fat, evolving textures.
Modulation and Automation Control
Dynamic Image Wavetable Synthesizer includes:
- 4 LFOs with tempo sync and multiple shapes (sine, triangle, square, random, step)
- 4 ADSR envelopes for modulation
- Dedicated amp and filter ADSR
- Right-click to quickly access modulation routes
- Shift + mouse drag on the tune slider for discrete pitch control in 12-tone steps
MIDI Expression and Performance
- 4 MIDI modulation sources: Velocity, Aftertouch, Mod Wheel, and Random
- Full automation support for live performance and DAW integration
System Requirements
- Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
- macOS support available
