Sound Dust has introduced Terrible Wurlitzer, a free instrument derived from the Wurlitzer Toolkit. This unique Kontakt library captures the character of a Wurlitzer electric piano processed through an MPC 1000 pitch-shifting algorithm, resulting in a distorted yet expressive sound.
Distinctive Lo-Fi Character
Terrible Wurlitzer is created by pitch-shifting a Wurlitzer piano up one octave using the MPC 1000’s live pitch-shifting feature. This technique adds a rough, degraded texture, making it an unconventional yet inspiring tool for producers seeking unique tones.
The instrument is based on Bad Wurlitzer, one of the four sounds from the full Wurlitzer Toolkit, which was recorded with downward pitch-shifting. In contrast, Terrible Wurlitzer shifts every note upwards, producing a raw, edgy sound that blends both unpleasant and beautiful qualities.
