Giulio Zausa has announced the release of RdPiano, a free digital piano plugin that accurately replicates SA-synthesis digital pianos. The plugin is designed to emulate classic instruments such as the Roland MKS-20, RD1000, and the Rhodes MK-80 electric piano, offering musicians and producers a faithful recreation of these iconic sounds.
Authentic SA-Synthesis Emulation
RdPiano stands out due to its precise simulation of the CPU-B board, a crucial component reused in various models. This approach ensures that the plugin captures the unique tonal characteristics and performance nuances of the original hardware, delivering an authentic playing experience.
Silicon-Based Custom Chip Analysis
A significant aspect of RdPiano’s accuracy lies in its emulation of the CPU and custom chips. The emulation process is derived from in-depth silicon analysis, allowing for a high-fidelity recreation of the internal processing that shaped the sound of the original instruments.
Key Features
- Emulation of SA-synthesis digital pianos, including Roland MKS-20, RD1000, and Rhodes MK-80
- Accurate simulation of the CPU-B board used in multiple models
- CPU and custom chip emulation based on silicon analysis
- Approximate recreation of BBD chorus and tremolo effects
Analog-Style Effects Processing
Beyond its digital accuracy, RdPiano also features an approximation of the classic BBD chorus and tremolo effects. While not as precise as its digital emulation, these effects add a vintage character, further enhancing the realism of the sound.
